Derian House Summer Raffle Terms and Conditions.

Derian House Children’s Hospice (referred to as “we”, “us” “our” or “Derian House”) is a charitable organisation, which exists ‘to help children and young people, whose lives are too short, to make happy memories in an environment of fun, respect and, high quality care’.

Our ethos is to make sure that every child and young person who comes to Derian House Children’s Hospice is able to make the very most of the time they have.

When you buy a ticket to the Derian House Summer Raffle you are supporting the work of Derian House Children’s Hospice in caring for children with life limiting and life-threatening conditions and supporting their families through the most difficult of times.

100% of income generated, less reasonable marketing and administration costs, will be received by Derian House Children’s Hospice for the ongoing care of our children, young people and families.

THE LEGAL STUFF

Derian House Children’s Hospice is licensed and regulated by the Gambling Commission (www.gamblingcommission.gov.uk) under Society Lottery Operating Licence numbers 059796-A-334983-001 and 059796-N-334982-001.

The Derian House Summer Raffle is promoted by and on behalf of Derian House Children’s Hospice registered in England and Wales Charity no 1005165 as a Society Lottery under the Gambling Act 2005.

The Derian House Summer Raffle is a form of gambling, you are encouraged to gamble sensibly. For more information, you can contact Be Gamble Aware on their helpline at 0808 8020 133 or visit the website on https://www.begambleaware.org.

We are required by our licence to inform customers about what happens to funds which we hold on account for you in the event of insolvency. The Gambling Commission provides further information on our licence conditions detailing what we need to tell customers about their funds.

We hold customer funds separate from company funds.12  These funds are not protected in the event of insolvency: not protected segregation. For more information, please see the customer funds insolvency ratings system.

The maximum number of entries, whether physical tickets or virtual tickets or a combination of the two, an individual is permitted to purchase in the Derian House Summer Raffle is 100. We have measures in place to ensure no more than 100 tickets are issued to any individual. If we discover that more than 100 tickets have been issued to one person then we will cancel extra tickets and issue a refund.

Each ticket for the Derian House Summer Raffle costs £1.

Every individual entry has the same chance of winning. Going off the current amount of tickets distributed to our supporters – the odds of winning a prize are 1 in 6847.

This is subject to change as some tickets may remain unsold.

Raffle tickets are not refundable save as expressly set out in these terms.

The Derian House Raffle consists of a prize pool of £7,000 as follows:

a) First ticket drawn will receive the first prize 1 x £5,000

b) Second ticket drawn will receive the second prize 1 x £1000

c) Third ticket drawn will receive the third prize 1 x £500

d) Fourth prize 20 x £25

ENTRY INTO THE DERIAN HOUSE SUMMER RAFFLE

Tickets for the Derian House Summer Raffle can be bought on our website www.derianraffle.co.uk, or by returning completed stubs and payment, if we have posted them to you as part of our Summer Raffle mailing. We will not post more than £20 worth of tickets to you at home without you requesting them, however, if you would like us to send more we will do so (subject to the maximum entry amount per person set out above in section 2) if you ask us to. You can also purchase a ticket at the hospice or from someone selling tickets on our behalf.

You will need to provide your name, email address, telephone number and postal address so that we can register your entry and contact you if you win. You will also need to give us your date of birth so that we can confirm you are over 18. We will also ask you about your contact preferences. You should make sure you provide use with accurate details. You will also need to pay for your tickets, you can do this by debit card (online form), cheque payable to Derian House Children’s Hospice or by cash. Payment cannot be made using Charity Aid Foundation (CAF) vouchers or any other kind of charity voucher. Your tickets will be entered into the draw when we have received payment in full.

When you purchase a ticket you will be required to confirm that you are at least 18 years of age, that you will not buy or claim to buy a ticket on behalf of any other person and that you are resident in the United Kingdom.

The maximum number of tickets permitted to purchase, whether that be virtual or hard copy, is limited to 100 per individual.

Virtual tickets

Virtual tickets can be purchased using our online entry system on our website www.derianraffle.co.uk. A minimum of two tickets must be purchased when buying online.

Following purchase of a virtual ticket you will receive:

– A confirmation email stating your order is being processed

– Once the payment has been cleared, you will receive a second email to confirm that Derian House has received the payment

– You will receive a third email containing your ticket numbers – please make sure to check your spam or junk folders. You will not receive hard copy tickets.

Hard copy tickets

Hard copy tickets can be purchased by filling in a physical ticket, paying us for the amount of tickets you are purchasing and returning the stub to us correctly completed. If you are writing the details in you will need to ensure you write clearly. Illegible or partially legible entries will be deemed invalid.

We must receive ticket stubs by the closing date set out in section 9 and we have no liability for lost, late or delayed entries or for entries received with postage due, all of which will be ineligible for entry into the Derian House Raffle and confidentially destroyed. We will not inform you if your entry is rejected. If we post tickets to you, you must complete and return them with the reply slip and payment in order to be entered into the Derian House Raffle.

Send hard copy ticket stubs to:

Once a hard copy ticket stub has been accepted it will be processed and entered into the Derian House Summer Raffle.

Hard copy and virtual tickets will be treated in exactly the same way for the purposes of determining a winner and each type of ticket has the same chance of winning.

All entries whether made online or by post must reach us by the entry date (see section 9 for details).

Please note the following regarding entries:

– You must provide all of the information required on entry to be eligible to enter and win.

– If you have provided an email address upon purchasing your tickets and there is a dispute as to the identity of any raffle entrant or winner, the authorised account holder of the email address used to enter will be deemed to be the entrant. The “authorised account holder” is the person assigned to the email address by the relevant internet access provider, online service provider or other organisation responsible for assigning email addresses for the domain associated with the submitted address.

– Entries that specify an invalid, non-working or inactive email address will be disqualified and will not be eligible to win.

– Only fully correctly, completed entries submitted during the period set out in condition 9 and (for online entries only) where you have received a confirmation of entry are deemed valid entries. Confirmations are not sent out for postal entries but will be entered into the raffle provided they meet the criteria.

If for any reason a technical interruption, fault or site failure takes place when purchasing entries online, Derian House takes no responsibility for incomplete purchases and any incomplete purchases will not be considered valid for entry into the raffle. Derian House takes no responsibility for purchases which are not completed, not received or ineligible for any reason.

ELIGIBILITY

Entry into the Derian House Summer Raffle is only open to individuals who:

(a) are 18 years of age or older at the time of entry;

(b) are legal residents in the United Kingdom; and

(c) are not a “Prohibited Person” listed below at the time of the drawing of the winner of the raffle

Prohibited persons. The following individuals are explicitly excluded from eligibility to participate in the Derian House Raffle. 

I. Any person who is a Derian House Children’s Hospice Director or employee directly involved in the management of the Derian House Summer Raffle is not permitted to enter. 

II. Any individual who, in our reasonable opinion is likely to bring Derian House Children’s Hospice into disrepute by becoming a winner of the Derian House Raffle.

You will not be eligible for a prize if you do not meet the eligibility criteria. If you are ineligible for any reason and your ticket is drawn you will forfeit your prize and we will select another ticket. You will not be entitled to a refund.

HOW OUR TERMS AND CONDITIONS APPLY

Participants are deemed to have accepted and agreed to be bound by these Terms and Conditions upon entry. We reserve the right to refuse entry or refuse to award the prize to anyone in breach of these Terms and Conditions or because they are not eligible according to these terms.

SELECTING A WINNER

All winning tickets will be drawn at random by a Gambling Commission certified electronic generator operated by Derian House Children’s Hospice, from among all eligible entries received. Tickets will be drawn and winners announced on Friday 27th June 2025.

We will contact winners by telephone, post or email.

Our decision regarding any aspect of the raffle is final and binding and we will not enter into any correspondence about it.

COMMUNICATING WITH AND ANNOUNCING A WINNER

We will notify the winner by telephone or email (using the details provided at entry) promptly and in any event within seven days of choosing a winner. The winner will receive the prize promptly by cheque.

Winners will have up to three months following notification of their win to claim their prize and we will make reasonable attempts to contact prize winners during that time period. If we cannot contact winners having made reasonable attempts to do so within three months of the date of the draw, or if winners do not provide ID within the same timeframe we will treat any unclaimed prizes as donations and the relevant amount will be credited to the Derian House Children’s Hospice main bank account.

YOUR DATA AND PUBLICITY

Personal data that you provide during the course of this promotion will be processed as set out in our privacy notice, which you can find at www.derianhouse.co.uk/privacy-policy/.

If you win, we would like to involve you in after the event publicity but your agreement to do so is not a pre-condition of entry into the raffle.

OPENING AND CLOSING DATE

Entries for the Derian House Summer Raffle will be open from 25th March 2025 and will close at 23.59 on Friday 20th June 2025. Entries received after this date will not be entered into the raffle but payment will be treated as a donation. 

The results of the Derian House Summer Raffle will be drawn and announced on Friday 27th June 2025.

OUR RESPONSIBILITY

We are not responsible for events beyond our reasonable control including (but not limited to) damaged or illegible tickets or cheques, failure or delay of banking systems or postal services, and technical failures or events which disrupt the operation of the Derian House Summer Raffle.

CANCELLING OR CHANGING THE RAFFLE

We may hold void, cancel, suspend or amend the raffle if it becomes necessary to do so. If we need to make changes, we will publish them on our website. If we exercise our discretion to cancel the raffle, we will refund entry fees.

COMPLAINTS AND ALTERNATIVE DISPUTE RESOLUTION

If you have any questions or complaints about the raffle or anything else connected with these terms and conditions please contact the Lottery and Individual Giving Manager on 01257 271 271 or email raffle@derianhouse.co.uk.

Complaints will be dealt with following our complaints policy, which you can find at https://www.derianhouse.co.uk/governance-and-compliance/

If a complaint is not resolved to your satisfaction once our complaints process is exhausted, the matter will be referred to IBAS (Independent Betting Adjudication Service), an independent third party, in order that they can make a judgement.

GOVERNING LAW AND JURISDICTION

The Derian House Summer Raffle is governed by English law and entrants submit to the jurisdiction of the English courts. However, if you live in another part of the United Kingdom, you may bring legal proceedings in respect of these terms either in the English courts or your local courts.
